ABOUT DAVE'S BACKGROUND
Dave Reid brings a unique combination of professional and community volunteer experience to his position as a member of the Folsom Cordova Unified School District School Board, having been involved in the development of education policy at the local, state, and federal levels for over 30 years.
Reid has been endorsed by 14 current and former elected officials representing Folsom and Rancho Cordova, including a majority of both the Folsom and Rancho Cordova City Councils. Dave has a long-standing reputation for getting things done. He fights harder when told something “can’t be done” and for individuals who have become caught in the bureaucracy.
Before Reid ran for the School Board in 2018, he regularly attended school board meetings for over three years. A former FCUSD Board Member once stated of Reid: “I am impressed by anyone who takes the time to learn the local issues before running for office, but even more so when you consider the depth of Dave’s education policy experience.”
Reid began his career serving as staff counsel to the Education Committees in the New York State Legislature where he was part of the K-12 state budget negotiating team and drafted numerous laws that improved education in the Empire State.
He later served as counsel to the New York State Higher Education Services Corporation before moving to California in 2006 to serve as counsel at EdFund in Rancho Cordova.
Prior to his election, Reid volunteered in a number of capacities within FCUSD community, including as President of the Folsom Cordova PTA Council, a member of the FCUSD Measure G Bond Oversight Committee, the Sandra J. Gallardo Elementary PTA Board, a founding member of the Folsom Cordova Education Foundation, and Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Rancho Cordova Chamber of Commerce where he founded the Chamber’s Business & Education Alliance Committee to bring the business and education communities together.
Dave and his wife Karen are the parents of three college-age children (Jackson, Connor, and Logan) who attended Sandra J. Gallardo Elementary, Sutter Middle School, and are recent graduates of Folsom High School.
